Artist Row Artists
This year, the stalls are being operated by the following:

Mamadou returns for his fourth season on Artists Row with his shop, Baobab. Mamadou is a well known ethnomusicologist whose band tours extensively throughout New England. His wife, Susan Dodge, is an artist whose work can be found in the stall.  Debra Crosby’s A Quest Actor’s Studio will also be part of his stall offering classes and performances throughout the season.

Founded in 2007, The Salem Arts Association (SAA) is the premier membership organization for artists and art-lovers living and working in Salem. The mission of this artist-led organization is to bring art, in all its forms, to the community and bring the community, in all its diversity, to the arts in Salem. We do this by producing art exhibits, readings, performances, and special events; operating a retail gallery, exhibition and performance space in Salem's Artists Row; and by forging important community partnerships.  The Salem Arts Association has been nominated two years in a row for the Salem Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award and was awarded the 2008 Artists of the Year Award from the Salem Cultural Council.  See more, learn more, and join at www.salemartsassociation.org.

GASworks (A Guild of Artistic Sorts) is new to Artists’ Row this year.  The group is comprised of artists from all disciplines, including acting instructor Sara Maurno, fine arts painters Tali Marotz and Shira Moss, photographers Lee Moss and Luke Tyler,  leathercrafter Dann Maurno, and musicians (and gardeners) Jim and Roze Malone of The Merj. Anyone who enters A Guild of Artistic Sorts will find something to enjoy, and learn a new craft via several free workshops that will be offered throughout the 2010 Artists Row Season. Contact GASworks on Facebook, at salemgasworks@comcast.net, or at 617 501 7465.

Bradley Backer of Impart Art is thrilled to have found a place on Artists' Row in his new home of Salem and is excited to have found such a thriving art community. He moved to Salem in August 2009 with his wife Susannah (of Raw Art Works in Lynn) and previously spent 7 years as the owner of a paint-your-own pottery studio in Quincy. Before that he attended the Massachusetts College of Art with a focus in community art education. Brad is a self taught musician and is interested in collaborating with other Visual Artists/Musicians to implement an innovative, multimedia, full sensory, theatre project. Please contact Brad at bradleybacker@gmail.com or call 617-379-0708.
