City of Salem Announces Snow Emergency Parking Options for Residents

SALEM, MA – With the potential of heavy snowfall quickly approaching, the City of Salem would like to notify all residents of parking options throughout the City during snow emergencies.~ The following is a comprehensive list of available parking for residents in our neighborhoods:~
Museum Place/South Harbor Parking Garages – $1.00/day ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Broad Street Playground
(vehicles parked overnight need to be moved by 10:00 a.m.)~~~~~~~~~~~ Bates School Parking Lot
Saltonstall School Parking Area located on Salem Street~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mack Park

Residents who wish to park in the designated area at Shetland Park must register with the Shetland Park Security Office and obtain a vehicle pass that must be displayed on the dashboard. Permits can be obtained at the Shetland Park Security Office, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. ~All vehicles must be removed immediately following the cancellation of the snow emergency (including weekends). ~Contact Shetland Security at 978-740-4429 for further information.
Alternative parking is also available at the Salem State College O'Keefe Center Parking Lot. A permit is required and can be obtained at the College's Public Safety Office. Please call 978-542-7096 for further details.

All of the above locations, excluding the Museum Place Parking Garage and South Harbor Parking Garage, offer parking at no cost.~ Vehicles parked in these locations due to a snow emergency must be removed once the snow emergency has ended.~ Snow emergencies are identified by the flashing blue lights on streetlights.~ Residents are notified of a snow emergency through broadcasts on local radio and Salem Access Television.
