The Perfect Pick-up Contest
This weekly contest is the latest initiative of SalemRecycles, the City’s volunteer recycling committee.
Each week a lucky Salem resident who has done a great job recycling will be rewarded.
What is the perfect pick-up? It’s all in the separation of recyclable items. Paper must be placed in a separate container (no plastic bags) and co-mingled recycling (plastic, glass, and aluminum) must be placed in another container.
How to participate?
1-Register either at Salem.com (under Trash/Recycling: the Perfect Pick-up) or by filling out a form. Copies of forms are available at City Hall, Council on Aging and the City Hall Annex-4th floor Engineering. By registering you are agreeing to take the SalemRecycles pledge for appropriate recycling practices.
2-Each Friday a contestant will be randomly selected. The committee will verify that the selected entry has appropriately recycled that week; and they will receive a $50 check from the Newark Group (the city’s recycling disposer) within 30 days of the drawing. Each household is eligible to receive one award annually.
The contest is current scheduled to run through June 2010.
